Port of Akko and the marina:

Port of Akko is a marina and a fishing port.

The port was declared as a marina in 1982. The area near the dock serves mainly to the use of fishermen and their boats. The port was not popular in the past but since the 18th century its popularity went higher and higher. The port started to develop when Daher Al - Oomar fortified Akko and opened building factories in the town.

The pollution in the Mediterranean sea:

In our visit to Akko, we sailed in a non motorized boat, and suddenly we noticed that the water we were sailing in has a green - black colour, then we went to check about that weird colour and then we discovered that the pollution in the area of Akko and the Mediterranean sea has been extremely high in the recent years.

the UN environment program has estimated that tons of sewage, mercury, mineral, oil, posephters and lead are dumped to the port of Akko which leads to the Mediterranean sea every year. We thought a lot about the improvement of that situation from the teenager - citizen point of view and we got the result that there are not a lot of opportunities.
