Called also "The Kziv Stream", Nahal Kziv is a creek in the Western Galilee. The creek starts in Miron Mountains and winds for twenty kilometres. At the end of the creek, it spills into Achziv Beach. The rock in Nahal Kziv is a hard limestone. The creek has two water sources, one of them is the rain and the second one are the two lush springs Ein Ziv and Ein Tamir. Moreover, from the creek stem two more little springs - Ein Bratot and Ein matzor. 

 



Plants And Vegetation In Nahal Kziv:

The Red Everlasting:

The Red Everlasting grows in April, May.​

The name had been given to the plant as a symbol for the memorial day for the Israeli fallen soldiers and the victims of terrorism (Yom Hazikaron).​

The plant grows in specific places as plowmans.​

The species is an endemic species which its circulation is limited to Israel, Syria and Turkey.​

In addition the name is derived from a legend saying that "In Every Spot One Grows A Drop Of Blood Has Been Spilled On The Earth".



The Madonna Lily:

The Madonna Lily is a plant in the genus Lilium.

The Madonna Lily grows in the west of Europe and in the west of Asia, and very popular in Israel though. The Madonna Lily has a basal rosette of leaves, which grows through the winter, and then dies back in the summer. The plant emerges in late spring and bears fragrant flowers in summer. The Lily's flowers are white and flushed yellow in their bases.



The Greek Strawberry:

The Greek Strawberry is an evergreen shrub or a small tree. It is not so high and its height comes up to five meters. The Greek Strawberry is very common in Israel and is an endemic species to the western Galilee and to Nahal Kziv as well, to the Carmel and to the West Bank. The Greek Strawberry is a protected species in Israel. Its colour is green and the bark's colour is reddish - brown. Its leaves are big and shiny, the shrub blooms in springs and it has small, round shaped fruits, coloured red.



Animals In Nahal Kziv:

Indian Crested Porcupine:

The Indian Crested Porcupine is the biggest rodent throughout Asia.

Its name was invented because of the spikes on his skin. 

The Porcupine is found mainly in the Mediterranean areas of Asia and Africa.

The Porcupines live in open areas as sands, hoods, deserts and creeks as Nahal Kziv.

The mainly of the Porcupines are in the nights, from the sedimentation till the dawn's early light.

In their activation time they go out to look for some food. Nahal Kziv area is a good living place for the porcupines because of the wealth and the abundance there. Namely, it can find a lot of food and the environment is good for its needs.



Persian Fallow Deer:

The Persian Fallow Deer is a mammal from the Cervidae family. The length of its body comes up to two meters and its tail is up to twenty centemeters. The average weight of the Persian male Deers is hundred kilograms and the Persian female Deers weight comes up to sixty kilograms. The male Deers are physically bigger than the females and they have a thick neck. In their calving season - which is in the fall, the female whelps one or two cubs. The Persian Fallow Deer is endangered and is a protected species. In order to preserve that species, it released to the nature of Nahal Kziv and the Western Galilee in 1996. These days more than 150 items live there, and that species is very common in Nahal Kziv and in the whole Western Galilee area.
